Our Story ...

The Short - We are a family run,

start-up based in the lovely county of Kent. We simply wanted to make sure that our family, friends and even pets, were able to consume safe water straight from their tap that maintains the water's natural mineral content and at an affordable price.

We noticed that a lot of filters we had seen were stripping away the naturally occurring minerals in the water whilst others did not seem to be doing enough. Besides, we had yet to see a water filter as compact, simple to use and install as ours.

The Long - Most importantly we decided

our product should not only be eco-friendly but could ease people's growing concerns related to the dire reality of pollution from Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) which are linked to a whole host of cancers/autoimmune diseases and other illnesses. If you did not already know, these are a diverse group of human-made chemicals used in a wide range of consumer and industrial products that can and do get into our water supply. The film Dark Waters highlights the true story and struggle of a defence lawyer who goes up against a major corporation to stop it from polluting a water source with PFAS and endangering the lives of the people.

This graphic describes the PFAS cycle This graphic describes the PFAS cycle and how PFAS can move from one location to multiple locations with the potential to impact communities.

There is cause for concern amongst the science community that

these "forever chemicals" - in our drinking water are too high. Currently, drinking water in the UK, must contain PFAS chemicals at no more than 100 nanograms per litre (ng/l) before action is taken. We feel this is much too high when health effects at lower and lower concentrations are being found. In fact, we are beginning to think that there is no such thing as a safe level!

It is our hope that our water filters, once easily installed, can be a positive step forward to preventing dire long-term health effects and ease some of the anxiety surrounding the problem of high concentrations of PFAS in our water supply.

Another problem with tap water is that despite the efforts of public

water suppliers, contaminants from rusted or leaking pipes can pollute drinking our wate supply. However, the problem with bottled mineral water and other bottled water, apart from the obvious issue of single-use plastic, is that they too may contain specific contaminants. Mineral water must

contain a minimum quantity of microbes and cannot undergo the same disinfection process as tap water because it is bottled at the source, so the range of microbes can vary.

Let's look at chlorine, this plays an important part in keeping our water safe to use, such as destroying water-borne pathogens in swimming pools. However, high levels can also pose health problems, such as triggering asthma symptoms and potentially an increased risk of bladder cancer.

Let's look at the problem of limescale -Inadequate intake of limescale have been associated with increased risks of kidney stones, colorectal cancer, coronary artery disease and so on.

This graphic shows a heavy metals chart

What about lead, rusted metal, and other heavy metals? Some of

us might be shocked to learn that levels of lead can still be found in our drinking water, that's right! High levels of exposure to lead can poison our bodies, with nasty symptoms such as abdominal pain, memory loss or even miscarriage or premature birth in pregnant women. Copper is the most common heavy metal to appear in tap water. Copper is another element that is essential to your health, but too much of it can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, and even kidney and liver disease.

So, what's the solution?

Ultrafiltration is the filtration method of choice for people who prefer minerals left in their water but still want microscopic contaminants taken out. Ultrafiltration operates at a low pressure effectively removing all bacteria and viruses as well as other contaminants such as heavy metals, rust, chlorine and limescale, you'll see the immediate difference in both your Kettle and Iron. Our device is about as compact as you'll find for a three-cartridge system and is quick and easy to install.

Meet our Dog!

Chief Expert in Heavy Metals and Chlorine detection! Beach huts of Deal, Kent.

Before we installed our Bright Water Filter, our pet dog would much prefer to

drink rainwater in the garden instead of tap water, and wherever it may have pooled. Inside drain covers and plant pots mainly! I don't know how many of you also have had this problem, but it made us start to wonder what the issue with the water from our taps might be. Like most dogs, cocker spaniels have a keen sense of smell and for this reason they are often used for drug detection services. My only guess is that perhaps our dog, like us, could taste the chlorine and heavy metal content in the water, and didn't like it too much. Since having our water filter fitted directly to our kitchen tap, our beloved pooch has been drinking tap water again without the same hesitation as before.
